12. TIME TO ACT…China makes plans to protect half of her wetlands by 2010. State Forestry Administration Director Jia Zhibang said China is taking the necessary steps towards protecting half of her diverse, natural wetlands by 2010 and that 90% will be safeguarded by 2030. With 18 national wetland parks and more than 470 natural reserves, China has the largest area of wetlands in Asia.
Our sincere appreciation China for prioritizing the preservation of our eco-precious wetlands. May these natural areas soon be restored to their pristine state.
