With the closure of the last offshore center in the Pacific island of Nauru on Friday, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) praised Australia for welcoming the Sri Lankan people to live in her lands. Mr. Richard Towle, the regional head of UNHCR said, “This…goes a long way to show Australia as a humane society and in keeping with its international obligations.”
