23. TIME TO ACT… Economist says new technologies are the solution to climate change. At the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit in India, UN official Jeffrey Sachs, Director of the Earth Institute, said that new technologies are the answer for climate change and continued economic development. These technologies include carbon capture and sequestration (CCS), high-mileage automobiles and hybrid cars, and concentrated solar power. Professor Sachs said policy makers must take immediate action to focus on technological advancement and provide research and development funding for green projects.
