Today in history, February 14, the Treaty of Tlatelolco was signed in Mexico in 1967. Agreed to by all 33 nations of Latin America and the Caribbean, the treaty declares that nuclear technology of any kind can only be used for peaceful means. The treaty was an important precedent in the peaceful use of nuclear technology because it was the first of its kind to include a large land area with a dense human population. The United States, France, China, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Russia have all signed the treaty. Thank you, signatory nations of the Treaty of Tlatelolco. May God continue to bless your endeavors for international peace and stability. Interestingly, February 14 is also Valentine’s Day, a holiday associated with love. May peace and love prevail on Earth.

In world news, Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) donates almost US$180 million to replenish African farmland soil. The project has as its goal the reinvigoration of 6.3 million hectares of farmland, which will help over 4 million farmers. The program is being funded by a grant of US$164.5 million from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and US$15 million from the Rockefeller Foundation. AGRA president Dr. Namanga Ngongi said: “[AGRA's soil health program] will improve the sustainability of small-scale farms, raise the yield and income of poor farmers, and help protect the natural resource base of soil and water.”

Thank you and Heaven bless the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Rockefeller Foundation for your generous support of Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa. May all African farmers be graced with happiness and abundance.

Coming up, the British Department for International Development supports environmental sustainability in its partnering nations. We'll just answer the cat's knock and come back. Please stay tuned for more Noteworthy News on Supreme Master Television.

Herrrrman the Horse: Halo, and welcome back to Noteworthy News - Good News for a Contented World. I’m Herrrrman the Horse, with a tip on how to save time when cooking with recipes. You can do that by reading a new recipe all the way through first and making sure all the ingredients and cooking equipment you need are available and set out for you. If you make sure to prepare beforehand, you’ll find that your cooking can be done very fast, especially with vegetarian recipes! Thank you for your attention, and here’s the weather around our beautiful globe.

In environmental news, scientists have found a method of using bacteria to create electricity. A discovery from Arizona State University's Biodesign Institute could lead to a commercial microbial fuel cell that is able to produce electricity from any type of waste. Dr. Bruce Rittmann, Director of the Center for Environmental Biotechnology at the Biodesign Institute said: “We can take this waste, keeping it in its normal liquid form, but allowing the bacteria to convert the energy value to our society's most useful form, electricity.”

Hats off to Dr. Bruce Rittmann and Arizona State University researchers for your very eco-friendly and beneficial discovery. May God bless all that are working towards solutions to save our precious planet and Earth citizens.

In humanitarian news, the British Department for International Development (DFID) helps to improve the lives of millions of people throughout the world. The program provides support to governments to help develop their nations for a brighter future. In 2006-2007, the DFID provided £433.5 million to 14 developing countries. The DFID’s goals for 2008 include supporting environmental sustainability and lessening the effects of climate change among their partnering nations.
Many thanks and Heaven bless the United Kingdom for your great generosity in helping our brothers and sisters around the globe. May all people shine in peace and prosperity.
Up next on Noteworthy News, German scientists develop a solar powered unit that produces cold drinking water. We’ll take a moment to give thanks to the Creator for the abundance in our lives. Be right back with more positive news, here on Supreme Master Television.

Welcome back to Noteworthy News - Good News for a Safer World.

In technology news, German scientists have designed small water treatment plants that operate on solar power. Dr. Joachim Koschikowski and his team at the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE) have developed the units for places in Africa and Asia that aren’t on the electrical grid. Dr. Koschikowski explained: “In our plant, the salty water is heated up and guided along a micro-porous, water-repellent membrane. Cold drinking water flows along the other side of the membrane.” One cubic meter of drinking water, the equivalent of 1,000 liters, will cost about 10 euros.

A big thank you and Heaven’s blessings to Dr. Koschikowski and the scientists of Fraunhofer Institute for inventing this green water treatment method. May all people be endowed with happy and healthy lives.

In news of sharing, a couple from Michigan, USA leaves US$1.6 million to friends and neighbors. Mr. Willis Hatch and his wife Arlene passed on when they were in their 90s. Mr. Hatch had been a farmer for many years, and Mrs. Hatch a school teacher. They bequeathed certificates of deposit ranging from US$5,000 to more than US$100,000 to about 70 of their beloved friends. The Hatches also left US$50,000 to the local church, which is trying to raise funds for a new building.

We thank Mr. and Mrs. Hatch for you noble example of generosity. May your souls rest in the eternal divine love.

Let’s enjoy some light-hearted humor with a joke told by Supreme Master Ching Hai. The title of this joke is “Operation In Need.”

“Doctor, I need an operation,” said an old lady to a doctor. “What's wrong?” The doctor asked. “Nothing. I just need an operation.” “You are not sick but you want an operation? Where should I perform it?” “It doesn't matter. Just go ahead and do it.” “But why?” “I am a member of the Senior Citizens Association. All our members have had surgery. And they talk about it every day. I have never had surgery and cannot join in the conversation!”

And now for our viewer’s heartline…

To Whom It May Concern,

How can I see the Supreme Master in person? I would love to attend an event where she is speaking. I feel such a sense of peace when I see her through the website.

I have been a vegetarian for 22 years and find it to be such a relief to find teachings of God to be about Love, Peace and Compassion to ALL life. I live in Florida and would love to attend one of her speaking engagements.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sincerely with Love and Compassion,
Anthony
