2009FEB11 - 8. TIME TO ACT…Canadian province takes action to protect polar bears

8. TIME TO ACT…Canadian province takes action to protect polar bears. Manitoba, a province in western Canada, declared the polar bear to be a threatened species. Development along the Arctic coast will now be limited so that the polar bears, who are being affected by global warming, can be better protected. The U.S. Geological Survey has reported that two-thirds of the Earth’s polar bear population could disappear by year 2050 due to melting ice caused by climate change.

We greatly appreciate Manitoba for taking this urgent action to protect our beautiful and unique polar bear co-inhabitants. They are surely grateful for your caring love. May all beings be graced to live together in harmony and happiness.
